HALLIBURTON KBR COMPLETES INSTALLATION OF SOLVENT DEASPHALTING UNIT AT TESORO PETROLEUM REFINERY
HOUSTON, Texas - Halliburton KBR has completed the installation of a new 21,000 barrel per day solvent deasphalting unit at Tesoro Refining and Marketing Company's refinery in Anacortes, Washington. The solvent deasphalting unit employs Halliburton KBR's ROSE™ (Residuum Oil Supercritical Extraction) process and ROSEMAX™ high efficiency separator internals for recovering high-value oils from refinery residues. Halliburton KBR is the engineering and construction segment of Halliburton (NYSE: HAL).
"Our history with Tesoro dates back to our operations and maintenance group that has provided services at this refinery for many years," said Randy Harl, president and chief executive officer of Halliburton KBR. "We are pleased to continue our relationship by successfully installing Tesoro's first ROSE™ unit."
This is the 32nd time that Halliburton KBR has licensed a ROSE™ unit, which allows refineries to increase the proportion of heavy crude feedstock and higher-end products, while decreasing heavy product yields. The project set a new 20-month "oil-in" record, the quickest ever with five days from removal of the battery limit blinds.
